Hearth Pads
With wood stoves burning cleaner and hotter than ever before, a standard ember protector hearth pad may not meet the requirements of your stove. Recognizing this need, Hearth Classics developed ThermaShield pads, the highest R-Value tile and stone hearth pads on the market. Fully non-combustible, with an R-value of 1.01, ThermaShield pads act as a thermal barrier in addition to protecting from falling embers. Because all our hearth pads are made with ThermaShield technology, Hearth Classics takes the guesswork out of choosing the right protection. All our pads are certified to meet or exceed UL1618 and ULC-S632-99. Whether you’re burning gas, pellets, corn, coal, oil or wood, our hearth pads offer the best protection on the market - and they look great too.
How much protection is an R-value of 1.01? Well, to match the thermal protection of a ThermaShield pad using ceramic tile, you would have to use 21 layers of ¼” tile. Check out these comparisons of other non-combustible materials to a ThermaShield pad.

Many other hearth pads are built on particleboard. These are fine for ember protection, but if your stove requires thermal protection, they only provide an R-value of R=0.05. That's because the value is measured from the surface of the pad to the nearest combustible material, in this case the particleboard.
For stoves that require a higher R-value than R=1.01, we offer the Low Profile Base and ThermaShield Xtreme Floor Protection System. These allow you to increase your protection to R=10.

Our invisible mounting brackets raise the pad 1” off the floor pad and hold it 1” away from the wall. This mounting system, along with our full non-combustible design can reduce clearances to a combustible wall up to 66% in many cases. Talk with your stove dealer and check your stove manual for clearance requirements for your stove.
Classic Edge hearth pads have a smooth, elegant profile inspired by cast stoves of today and yesterday. Made with ThermaShield technology, they are fully non-combustible and provide an R-value of R=1.01. There is no other hearth pad like it. Unlike pads with wood frames, our profile edge is a single welded frame that holds up to the heating and cooling of your stove without cracking at the joints.

Our matching base and pedestals are beautiful options to raise your pad 11⁄8”, 6” or 10”. Available for Yoder Original or Classic Edge pads. 6” pedestals are available in every color and size. 10” pedestals are available in every color for pads 36” and smaller. These can also increase your thermal protection for stoves that require R-values greater than R=1.01. We’ll even make a custom pedestal to go with your custom sized hearth pad.
Load Spreading Disks
Heavy stoves with individual legs or leveling bolts put all the weight of the stove onto 4 small points. In some cases, the load is too much for tile to withstand. To prevent the tile on your pad from cracking, slip a Load-Spreading disk under each foot. Disks may be painted to blend with the color of your hearth. (Disks sold separately)
